Hot Mardi Gras tip via Home of the Groove

The always amazing Home of the Groove has a particularly choice cut for you to give a listen to for Carnival season: Go here, and scroll down to “Shot Gun Joe,” by Ernest Skipper with Flag & The Boys. Mixing brass and Indian music and some guitar funk flourish (and maybe, to my ears, a little disco), it’s one of the best Mardi Gras songs I’ve ever heard.
And while you’re enjoying that, scroll just a bit further to learn that:
one Ernie ‘Shotgun Joe’ Skipper will be DJing on Mardi Gras Day at the Backstreet Cultural Museum in the Historic Treme District. … Sounds like a fantabulous holiday with mucho Mardi Gras Indians and other assorted revelers, plus the New Birth Brass Band funkin’ it up.
